During library time this past week in the elementary school, with each class we discussed the library rules for checking out books, as well as the 5 finger test to use in finding books that are within the reading range of each student.
This year in the library for PreK through Grade 4 we will employ a different check out feature than in previous years. In the past students have spoken their library number to the check out assistant as their turn in line approached. To expedite and facilitate more accurate check outs, this year each student in the early grade levels will present the library staff with their own uniquely crafted library/card book mark.
The library cards will serve the dual purpose of marking the place on the shelves where a student has pulled a book, filling the role played by the “wands” the past 3 years. Each class added art work to their book marks. There was some remarkable work of which those displayed below are only a few examples of the talented work!
